In fact, I like it so much, I'm leaving a few small quibbles unsaid.

Abel Xavier's problem is not simply the mediocre defenders surrounding him.

It's more the mental-frequent-flier miles he's racking up as he drifts off to Brazil a few times every match.

MLS' pace and physical play presents itself deceptively. LA's defense should be tactically sound on account of experience, but our backline is drawn out of position too much by faster players leading to breakdowns; Xavier is a big part of that.
