Cruz, not Cruise

Overheard. . .

One of the Galaxy staff: Cruz was wearing a monkey costume in the locker room

Me, hearing "Cruise" and thinking Tom, since he was in the Galaxy locker room last time I stopped by: You mean like a tuxedo?

Galaxy staffer: No, a monkey costume.

Me (getting a weird visual, until I remember the name of Vicki and David's youngest) Oh, oh.

So Cruz likes his costume, apparently. I guess that's a phase for some young 'uns. The little son of a friend of mine wore out his Spiderman outfit. He liked to wear it everywhere.

Happy Poshness!

There is actually a soccer point to wishing Vicki a "Happy Birthday" today. She celebrated last night with her husband, Kate Beckinsale and Eva Longoria, who incidentally, is married to French basketball player Tony Parker, who is apparently good pals with Thierry Henry. If Barca is really looking to move Henry on, I'm sure he's heard a lot about the U.S. from Parker and perhaps even Becks himself.
Doesn't mean the rumors of Thierry coming to MLS are entirely credible, but look at how a trickle of Argentines to MLS quickly turned into a flood. Connections, like in any job around the world, often convince people to make a move.

Vicki loves America

Ugly Betty is getting Posh to join their show in a guest role. The show, Ugly Betty, is comparable to soccer in that it was successful in many places around the world, but a lot of people doubted that it could find an American audience. I wasn't sure its campy tone would work, myself, but it has become a hit, partly because of the appeal of its charming star, America Ferrera.

Apparently, even Vicki is a fan, which helped her land a role in the series. She's a bit over-the-top, Vicki, at least in her public persona of big sunglasses and rare smiles, but I'd guess a lot of that is an act. In which case, she should fit right in to the quasi-telenovela scene of the TV program.

They even have Becks already.

Tee, hee!

I found this funny, no matter the pick. I also thought that the elements of truth were striking, but if there's any more proof needed that the signing of Beckham has impacted the American public - this should close that case.

Vicki has a blog - and dog

Proof positive that it really was meant to be for David Beckham to join the LA Galaxy. His wife, Victoria Beckham, has a little dog, named Twiggy, (clink on the vbtv link) which is the same breed, a Yorkie, as Alexi Lalas' dog, Bob.

Actually the whole set of videos on the blog looks like "A day in the life of VB". She even gets the private plane David apparently will not have when flying to games.

Despite the plane, fancy hotel room, Louis Vuitton dog collar and designer clothes, the one time I envied Posh was when I saw her Hello Kitty pajamas. Those are seriously cute.

Also, Posh, if a dog is eating its poo it's usually because the food the dog gets is so gourmet and yummy, that it still tastes good even after it has become poo. Our little Sheltie (RIP, Misty) used to eat hers whenever we fed her treats, so we stopped that. We began to feed her this dry, organic dog kibble that had hardly any meat. It was like dog health food. She could barely stand to eat it once, so she didn't eat her poo any more and lived to be 16.
