Ives Galarcep has broken the news that Chivas USA is not taking Amado Guevara for any more rides on the MLS merry-go-round. He's headed back to Honduras.

A lot of people have called the trade for Guevara a bad move. It's important to remember that Preki didn't make it, Bob Bradley did.

How Guevara would have performed under Bradley - we'll never know.

The Player Agent

Guevara's representative, Patrick McCabe, told me I was the seventh reporter he talked to - and he was working his way down a list of others that were leaving him messages. These are the days where agents really earn their commission - they deal with the press and they try to broker a workable deal for their clients.

Craziness

Crazy day indeed.

The trade didn't happen but Amado Guevara is off the team. That shouldn't be overlooked.

Here's one of the many things Preki said about it after training today:

"I have a vision of where this club is going and he's not part of it."

Players thought it was a done deal. Team officials thought it was a done deal. Toronto probably thought it was a done deal. So when we broke the news to Jesse Marsch, he was a bit stunned to say the least.

"That's news to me. I've never been in that situation. I don't know what to say."

So if an MLS original says he's never seen that thing before, it really must be a rarity.

Ride the rollercoaster

Bob Holtzman of the Daily Breeze had some of the elements of the Guevara story yesterday that confirmed our earlier take.

What I found funny was what Luis related was Jesse Marsch's reaction to the news that Guevara has refused the trade to Toronto.

"Can he do that?" Jesse apparently responded in amazement.

I'm wondering the same thing, actually.

By the way, though our original article said the deal was done, we did add the caveat of league approval. Apparently, though, player approval comes into play as well.

Guevara gripes

The deal that we reported yesterday about Amado Guevara getting traded is apparently off.

That doesn't mean that we didn't do due diligence - three sources confirmed, including one that went on the record. But Canada's sportswriters broke the news that Guevara balked at the deal.

He's done this before - using going to Honduras as his trump card.

Or it could be a stalling tactic with the original deal only going through after Guevara serves his league suspension.
