I feel that Steve Gerrard's response was very reassuring of the status of the team's relations and how they are adjusting to Gio's arrival. I wonder how factual his response was regarding the teams dynamics? Regardless, I felt that Gerrard branded both himself and the team well by suggesting this positive, supportive, and inclusive environment. Had he answered the question differently or expressed some sort of tension between players, do you think the fan base and image for both Gerrard and the other players would change at all?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07853277495195022100noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5437561489188679737.post-427996517993240312016-04-15T16:56:49.963-07:002016-04-15T16:56:49.963-07:00I really like what you wrote about the Galaxy and ...I really like what you wrote about the Galaxy and the issue you chose to address regarding the player's relationships on the team. I agree that in the heat of the game, even players who are normally polite and generally considerate may say stuff they wouldn't otherwise, but as the advert says, "Don't cross the line" There shouldn't be any excuse for racial abuse. And I'm sure all the Latino fans of DC United (and they are legion) would defend comments by Arnaud if they saw any spitting. But we fans, coaches (and when we are playing) really have to control ourselves and to acknowledge unsportsmanlike behavior anywhere in sports. (or anywhere in life). By ourselves and by our favorite players. There may be plenty of good reasons, but there is never any excuse.

DC United Fan - John Leitzke - (@leitzkejs)John Leitzkenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5437561489188679737.post-65332488514220279672015-02-05T09:09:37.784-08:002015-02-05T09:09:37.784-08:00Possibly. I mean, I also see a Diego Maradona "Hand of God" reference when LD kicks ball over to Hat Trick Rick, who bats the ball down with his hand for his first touch, so maybe it's just me. My unread count for Fox is so high that it often seems too intimidating to even read that one. But I don't think most use RSS; it's probably more common for others to discover via twitter (I find some things there also), facebook, or by going to the site directly to scan article titles.

In terms of commenting, it's regrettably more likely for people to comment where they read the content than by clicking through to the actual source (just plain laziness), although it does surprise me that you didn't get any comments at all. On the other hand, the NBC Sports article only has 3 comments right now, so they (or the "ProSoccerTalk" blog) aren't getting much interaction either. MLS must be well-optimized (SEO? via twitter?) to get the word out for their content. I find it likely that a Galaxy supporter site/blog that has a ton of readers probably linked to the MLS article, which drove many of those commenters there.

So I don't know if any of that's helpful, but I hope the lack of comments doesn't discourage you from posting. I found Sideline Views some years back (don't even remember how) when both you and Luis Bueno posted. I've always enjoyed reading the articles. If you keep posting, I'll gladly keep reading. And hopefully remembering to comment from time to time...Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00703481067413923051noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5437561489188679737.post-9067585403634525872014-02-14T20:53:28.882-08:002014-02-14T20:53:28.882-08:00Ha!
