No Fish

Carlos Ruiz didn't travel with the Galaxy to Texas to face his old team, FC Dallas. He suffered a slight hamstring strain yesterday, and the team decided to leave him home to rest as a precaution. So the drama of Ruiz versus the team he once captained is gone.

Beckham practiced today and looked fine, though he wasn't talking to the press. I spoke to Ruud Gullit and Abel Xavier, though.

Xavier is a good quote, actually. He's very articulate and the fact that he can produce intelligent statements in about six different languages is pretty remarkable. The marketing guys seem to like Xavier too, or maybe they just like how his hair pops against a dark background.

Did Donovan make the trip? Did he practice today? Too bad about Ruiz. When will he, Becks and LD ever get on the field together?

Donovan did practice. Yes, he's going on the trip.

The big three might be onfield together for the season opener in Colorado.

No Pescadito? Did General Sala's comments in the paper scare Ruiz? (Loser buys dinner). BTW, FC Dallas is broadcasting the game through their website for free.

can you tell us anything that Ruud or X had to say?

Any idea if we've signed any of the players to contracts that weren't for the asian tour?

(Wicks, Jordan, Alvaro Pires)

A little birdie told me signings are in process.

tease!

Thanks for the info.

Do you know anything about the rumor that Babayaro was on the plane to Dallas? Same source new that Ruiz wasn't on the plane before you broke that which is only reason I suspect it might be true...

I don't have signing info on Babayaro. The local press though, think Babaganoosh (tm Billy Witz) didn't look good, though, and it was a wise choice to pass on signing him. Xavier, though seems to miss him a bit. "Those are management decisions," he said when I asked his opinion. "It was lovely to have him while he was here, and that's all I'll say."
