Hacking it

John Hackworth moves on to assist Bradley with the full national team.

Does anyone think John Ellinger will take up the U17 post again?

There's certainly precedent. Both Sigi Schmid and Thomas Rongen returned to youth national team coaching positions (the U20 squad) after being let go by their MLS teams.

If Ellinger goes back to the youth ranks it just goes to prove why our squads haven't got to the finals of these youth world cups. The program needs to bring in new blood not recycle the same old underacheiving coaches.

just another one of you said...

More importantly, do you see any emphasis in the near future being placed on the better integration of urban, under privileged, and immigrant youths into the system?

And to respond to the first anonymous comment- You have to be shitting me if you think the recycling of coaches is to blame for the US not getting to the finals.

You are shitting on yourself, if you cann't get to the finals, but yet you keep bringing in the same old coaches who have the same old tired ideas and excuses. I know they coached on the international level or he knows the American player BS. I see nothing wrong with bringing in new blood with new ideas. I good person to interview would be former NY RedBull youth director Giovanni Savarese, he has ran a highly respected youth program.

I can't fault Rongen's handling of the u-20's...played beautiful attacking soccer, just ran out of bodies later in the tournament...
