Historic goal

Well, the scoreless streak is over. Toronto FC finally scored a goal. It remains to be seen whether it will translate to a win because the game is still in the first half but it was a great goal nonetheless.

Edson Buddle did well to carry the ball down toward the corner of the penalty area. He had a tight angle and could have tried to crack it from short range but instead he put the ball to the front of the six-yard box. Danny Dichio knocked it in and BMO Field went nuts.

On talent alone, this team is better than Chivas USA 2005 and Real Salt Lake 2005. Things have been bad, downright terrible in fact, but talent exists. With Chivas USA in 05, it was like trying to squeeze water from rocks but this team might be able to be competitive and get some wins, which is more than their expansion predecessors did.

Still, I'm not exactly holding my breath but there seems to be more hope now than before.

Entertaining first half, Toronto is a lot better than I expected. Dichio was doing well until he lost his mind toward the end of the half.

Yeah, it was better than I thought.

Funny how Jim Brennan said at halftime that they wanted to make BMO Field intimidating and then the Fire at halftime requested to have a cover over their bench, probably to protect them from the fans. Does that count as intimidation?

Looking forward to the second half.
