When word broke that Chivas USA had agreed to a sponsorship deal, rumblings were that the club had inked a fairly valuable deal. With Chivas USA's sponsorship in place from the start, it seemed like the opportunity for a high-profile corporation to throw a cool seven-figures-plus per year to Chivas USA for sponsorship rights was there for the taking.
And that's what happened.
Maybe.
Chivas USA did not announce the exact dollar figures behind the deal with Comex, instead choosing to announce a "multiyear, multimillion-dollar agreement" between the two sides.
Lame.
The LA Times reported that the deal is worth some $2 million per year. I'm doing my own digging to see if that figure is correct, which it most likely is.
It's strange, though, that the figure was not released. Maybe there is a good reason for it. If so, I'll try and pass that along as well.
