Preliminary rosters?

Just got an e-mail with a link to a site with preliminary rosters for the Gold Cup teams. I hadn't seen anything about any rosters anywhere so I was a bit surprised.

Anyway, here is the preliminary U.S. roster

Goalkeepers: Joe Cannon, Marcus Hahnemann, Tim Howard, Kasey Keller.

Defenders: Oguchi Onyewu, Frank Simek, Chris Albright, Steve Cherundolo, Carlos Bocanegra, Jonathan Bornstein, Bobby Boswell, Jimmy Conrad, Jay DeMerit.

Midfielders: Clint Dempsey,
DaMarcus Beasley, Kyle Beckerman, Michael Bradley, Brian Carroll, Ricardo Clark.

Forwards:
Brian Ching, Kenny Cooper, Landon Donovan, Eddie Johnson.

Here's the link to the site.

Last Gold Cup they had preliminary rosters that were all wrong, so I wouldn't necessarily trust it.

Yeah, Costa Rica just came out with its real roster, and of course there are changes. (They've added Allan Aleman, who's listed at 5'2 1/2 and may be the smallest international soccer player in the world.)

Not likely to see Marcus Hahnemann as part of either the Gold Cup or Copa rosters, LB. Seems Bradley has made it clear that Marcus will be given time off this summer after 2 full seasons with Reading.(story covers this on "Yanks Abroad")

Yeah, these rosters seem puzzling. That they were released this way, without much fanfare, is strange. Usually, for rosters there is a lot of notice and we know well ahead of time that they'll be released.

Another puzzling item was that Guatemala scheduled a friendly against Chivas USA on June 2 at HDC. Chivas USA doesn't play that day but the Galaxy does, and it's at HDC. Maybe it's for the 3rd or it might be somewhere else, like the Coliseum or something, but that also seems a little odd.

check Goff's blog. It was a 39 man roster than CONCACAF took the first 21 names and picked out Onyewu and Simek to complete this list (probably cause they were playing in England).

Otherwise the US just doesn't like last names after K ...

The Chivas-Guatemala game is actually going to be in Titan Stadium at Cal State Fullerton.

BTW, Michael Bradley is in, but not Taylor Twellman? They come out today, I think. So i hope that is not true.

Hahnemann is actually out with a broken hand. He broke it in a collision in Reading's game last weekend.
According to the Reading F.C. website:
Marcus Hahnemann (hand) - He's had an operation, and had two plates & 16 screws inserted into his hand. It's quite a nasty fracture, one of the bones is in five pieces but we're still aiming for a return in pre-season.
