Damaged goods

I've gotten quite a few emails asking if the Galaxy were looking to trade for Jeff Cunningham. According to coach Frank Yallop, no.

"There’s nothing from our end, no," said Frank when I asked him about the rumors this morning.

Well perhaps Frank was right, because the trade that Real Salt Lake eventually pulled off was sending Cunningham to Toronto for Alecko Eskandarian and some change in a draft pick.

However, sources at RSL also confirmed, off the record, that the Galaxy had made an offer for Cunningham.

Chris Albright was the player LA was willing to trade for the striker.

Now whether Real turned down that offer before or after Chris got injured is another matter, but it's now a moot point. Few and far between are the clubs who will trade for an injured player.

Although he won't be playing for them for a while, Chris may have bought himself more time in a Galaxy uniform by getting injured.
