My SI.com editor Jonah Freedman was out at the Oakland A's-LA Angels game on Saturday and brought back with him a somewhat positive snapshot of the San Jose Earthquakes' presence in the Bay Area.
Even though they're the worst team in MLS (though the Red Bulls are giving them a run for their money), they are still beloved in NoCal.
Seems A's fans chose with their applause to see 'Quakes highlights over MLB highlights. But click on the link above to get the full story.
I'm still trying to figure out what would be a worse way to spend a Saturday evening than an A's-Angels game.

Its good to see soccer back in that area though and somehow I think they'll be back as a force within MLS sooner rather then later. They seem to have good management and a good coach in Fran Yallop and its just a matter of putting the right pieces together.
