Benevolent Blanco

Making a cancer kid's dream come true. Kudos to the Fire, Houston Dynamo and especially Cuauh himself.

Major props to Blanco and the Dynamo for making this kid's dream come true. No matter how much we dislike guys like Blanco and Beckham, their off-the-field contributions to the community make you respect them no matter what. Hopefully the league as a whole continues to make kids' dreams become a reality!

How do we know that his real dream wasn't to meet Cuauhtemoc, at all, but Brad Davis instead?

Well, the English language version of this episode will air soon, but in the meantime, trust my translation a little. Or trust the highlight clips, none of which show Brad in action. That said, I'm sure the kid appreciated Brad being nice to him as well.

blanco is easy to hate on the field, but you can't question the guy since he's been in the states. i think he's gone out of his way to show his character and that's a good thing. i applaud him for not being a snot and treating everything here as second class. atheletes that go to meet fans, make dreams come true are excellent to say the least. major props to all parties involved in this.

when i worked in tv in memphis, carlos valderrama came to the children's hospital there to pay a visit which was quite nice since there wasn't any soccer being played in memphis, he just wanted to give the kids at st jude something to be happy about.

Both while with the San Jose Earthquakes and as a member of the Los Angeles Galaxy, Landon Donovan has several times been someone's Make A Wish dream come true. I remember one teen-age girl got to spend a couple of days with the Earthquakes, and specifically Donovan, and then was their special guest for the ESPN game of the week.

Yeah, it didn't get big-time ESPN coverage, but I've seen Landon with the Make-A-Wish kids more than once. For example, there was a kid at the USMNT camp this January who was treated to a closed stadium practice, got pictures with the squad and an LD jersey and dinner with his hero, I think.
