Missing offense

Something was amiss in Chivas USA's 2-1 loss to D.C. United. The offense wasn't clicking, and it wasn't because Amado Guevara was nowhere near RFK. Guevara didn't really do a whole heck of a lot in his short stay with the club.

The offense didn't really have anyone to play the ball through in the middle of the field. The goal came courtesy of a nice pass from Jesse Marsch but it was mostly an individual effort from Maykel Galindo that the ball found the back of the net.

Ante Razov nearly almost had a goal but he slammed one off the woodwork in the second half.

Chivas will get Sacha Kljestan back next week and he needs to bring some offense with him. He's being counted on for offense this year, especially now with Paulo Nagamura in there to mix things up defensively. Panchito Mendoza needs to step his game up too.

I liked what I saw from Laurent Merlin. He had that nifty little pass that Mendoza headed right to Troy Perkins late in the game.

Defensively, they had a breakdown on the right side that led to the PK. Lawson Vaughn knocked Casal down inside the penalty area but he was in a difficult situation. Casal got behind Alex Zotinca too easily.

Dissapointing. So close and yet, so far. This team has major chemistry issues. Losing Guevara was only one step in the right direction. Sacha "screwed" this team with that bonehead play. His presence on the ball was missed. We looked overmatched at times.
