It's not often MLS makes the front page of Yahoo but a story appeared there this morning. Of course, it had to do with David Beckham but nonetheless it had MLS in the headline.
Still, the story was kinda lame. Basically, someone felt it necessary to write a story on how Becks was left off the All-Star ballot. I think it would have been a big story if he was on the ballot but he's not on the ballot because he won't play one league minute before the All-Star game for the Galaxy.
I think the All-Star ballots and all that is a bit of a sham anyway. The league always finds ways to include their most popular players in certain events like the All-Star game even if they don't necessarily merit inclusion. For instance, Freddy Adu was part of the pre-MLS Cup 2004 festivities. He won some sort of goal of the year thing or some crap.
Still, with the Galaxy's World Series of Football on July 17 (vs. Tigres UANL) and July 21 (vs. Chelsea) and the All-Star game on July 19 (in Colorado), I don't know that Beckham will be a part of that game anyway.
