The ones who will decide

So who recognizes them and can tell our readers what they are saying about Hugo Sanchez? Even if you don't understand Spanish, body language says a lot.

Who are they? A panel of Nuremberg judges getting ready to prosecute war crimes?

Come on, I know some fans reading know who they are. Consider it the quiz post for this week. But yes, Anon, I'd say their consider Hugo's leadership of the Mexican Olympic tam criminal.

it's the three most important members of the FMF: Guillermo "Memo" Cantu (Director de Selecciones Nacionales), Decio De Maria (Secretary Geberal?)and Justino Compean (President or Chairman).

Yep, that's them, and Compean, the one center starts off talking about what a sad occasion this is for everyone up there. They are NOT happy campers.

a.c., have you had a chance to interview them? I'm wondering if they are as nice in real life as they seem on TV (except on this clip, of course)...

I've dealt with the three of them before as well and from my experience they are all easy to deal with. They are all very important men for sure but they don't carry themselves as your typical suit. I'd say Cantu is probably the closest to being pure business but I've never had anything negative from any of them. They've heard many hard and many stupid questions before so they take everything in stride.

I can't say, though, that i've been around them at such a distressing time as this weekend's games.

I've talked mostly with Decio and Compean. The local press loves them because they speak English. Compean can be downright funny; he's a smart clever guy. But he wasn't in a joking mood last night, that's for sure. The mood was worse than a funeral - very dark and doom and gloomy.

As Mexico faces another winter of broken expectations, one answer is clear: There's only one man who can take this sorry lot and turn them into the champions they see themselves as -- a man whose profound tactical expertise is renowned, a man who knows his way around different cultures, a man who has earned the utmost respect of anyone who has played for him.

Yet this man has been callously tossed aside by the federation that enabled him to stake his claim to greatness. This man awaits (nay, demands) redemption.

Mexico awaits your peerless greatness, Steve Sampson.
