Keeping score

6-0 seems like a pretty comprehensive win, but frankly, it's disappointing for the U.S. women. That's because they're in the same group as rapidly-improving Mexico, which defeated Jamaica 8-1 in their opening match. The U.S. was hoping to tie or better that goal difference in their game versus the islanders. That didn't happen. Now the U.S. will have to beat Mexico on Sunday to top the group.

6-0, right. I posted just after checking the matchtracker at game's end, and it hadn't updated. Actually, those last goals in the dying minutes make a difference, as the goal differential with Mexico is now only -1 for the U.S.

Andrea, now that we've got the score straight, perhaps you could also refine your final sentence, which leaves the impression that the US must beat Mexico to advance.
