Cuba will fight on and play shorthanded. According to published reports, Cuba has decided to play its remaining games against Honduras and Panama with just 11 players.
Seven Cubans defected from the squad and their homeland and the Cuban Olympic team has been left with just enough players to field a starting lineup.
According to a report posted on CONCACAF's Web site, Cuba will play.
Part of what General Secretary Chuck Blazer said in a statement:
"CONCACAF's sole objective is to ensure the 2008 CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying Tournament is carried out in the proper manner. The Cuban Delegation has informed us that they will continue to participate in the tournament. All matches, therefore remain as scheduled."
