The Mexican Apertura season is off and running, and so are my rankings.
1. Pachuca. Opened season in style - a 4-1 mauling of Tecos.
2. Chivas. Need to learn how to finish games.
3. Tigres. Loco Abreu robbed of goal on non-existent offside.
4. America. Played well in scoreless draw against Puebla.
5. Necaxa. Parejita Lopez (two assists) will be welcome addition.
6. Santos. It took eight games for Santos to win a game last season; it takes just one game this time around.
7. Morelia. Salvaged draw with stoppage-time equalizer.
8. Atlas. Showed a lot but still managed just the one point.
And in case you missed them, here are the scores from the weekend. Six games finished in a tie.
Pachuca 4, Tecos 1
Jaguares 1, Atlante 1
Tigres 0, San Luis 0
Morelia 1, Veracruz 1
Atlas 1, Toluca 1
Pumas 1, Chivas 1
Santos 2, Cruz Azul 0
Necaxa 3, Monterrey 2
Puebla 0, America 0

Doodz, I actually watched the cruz azul vs. Santos game. I was a really good game. I would say Premiership level! Good stuff.
