Rating Razov

So Fortune figures Ante Razov is overpaid, citing his salary relative to his low playing time this year. They're looking at minutes, though, and don't mention that in the 582 he's spent on the field, Razov has a goal and two assists.
Really, in the last game versus Chicago, his old team, Razov's pinpoint passes picked apart the Fire and contributed a huge amount to the win by Chivas USA. Yes, Razov's not as fast as he once was, and he was injured to start the year, but he's cagey, smart and can strike the ball well for a goal or a pass. Youth is no guarantee of fitness, either - witness that Razov has played more minutes than the much-younger Maykel Galindo. Along with another former Fire alumn, Jesse Marsch, Razov has been a big part of Chivas USA's turn-around these past two years.
Overpaid - or just tagged so by a surface evaluation that doesn't rate true value?

I will always love Ante and he will always be a Chicago Fire player to me, but if we are being honest, last night not withstanding, he is overpaid this year.
His salary and lack of production up til last night has stapped the club for cash that could have been used elsewhere.
I am sure he will make it back to form, but right now he is overpaid.

Lack of production? Razov's the leading goalscorer in Chivas USA history, 26 scored, and with 18 assists. That's the kind of player who has proven himself, and it's worth waiting out an injury layoff. I just think it's strange - it's not as if he's healthy and just can't get on the field much, like Jeff Cunningham. Or that he gets perpetually injured, like Reyna. How Reyna did not make this list is a travesty. He's overpaid because he's ALWAYS injured and he's never really made a positive impact for New York at all.

The analysis is very superficial. It does not mention goals scored, or the injury status of a player. Injuries are a part of the game.

Razov had two assists on Thursday, I think he'll be just fine. Not bad for just coming off the injury list.

Good call on Reyna! That guy should be arrested, because he's been stealing money from RBNY...
