Mosquera bolts

Pachuca suffered a big blow Thursday with the loss of defender Aquivaldo Mosquera. The bulky Colombian was one of the top central defenders in Mexico but is now property of Sevilla. Apparently Mosquera lobbied for the move.

Mosquera will leave a large void for Pachuca to fill. The season starts Friday for Pachuca as they play Tecos so coach Enrique Meza will have to sort the defensive line quickly as the club begins defense of its Clausura 2007 title.

Good for Mosquera. From all accounts a great guy! Besides, Pachuca is receiving 8 million euros for his transfer. So it's a win-win.

Yea, I agree. Also, the guy who filled in on tuesday for him did a pretty good job. Pachuca is so good on offense that this loss will not hurt them too badly in the league, despite the fact that he is probably the best defender in the Mexican league. However, his loss will probably be felt more in the competitions, and I would be very surprised if Pachuca repeated as Sudamericana champion or won libertadores next spring without bringing in a big-time replacement for Mosquera...

This guy is a beast. One of my favorite players in the league to watch, now he's going to my team in Spain. Sweet.

Solid player -- that's good news for Houston in the upcoming Superliga semis.
