Jesse Marsch scored against the Revolution on Aug. 6, 2006 before more than 90,000 people at the LA Coliseum. The game was part of a doubleheader with Chivas de Guadalajara and FC Barcelona.
Marsch duplicated his scoring feat on Saturday when he bagged the game-winner against New England in front of a considerably smaller crowd.
Officially, the crowd was slightly more than 9,000 but some of us speculated that it was far less than that. Some of us said it might have been between 3000-5000. Marsch joked that it seemed even smaller than that.
A reporter asked him to compare the goals against the Revs, that last year's was in front of 90,000 fans...
"This one was in front of 900," Marsch replied.

Marsch is joking but he seemed honestly puzzled by the attendance when he talked it over with me on another occasion. It's got to be discouraging for players at times.
