Beckham, in case you missed the saturated TV coverage of the event, came on for the Galaxy late in the game. He did fine.
I think too much has been made of the bad ankle thing. He's not going to risk it just for ratings, but players play on recovering ankles all the time.

The Sidwell tackle couldn't have helped. We may not see him for another week or so.
my thoughts... i enjoyed the coverage of the game and would have even if he didn't play. but he did, so it made it even more exciting. glad he didn't get hurt though! last, donovan needs to finish that cross.
I enjoyed every minute ... and even was able to stomach the repeated shots of Becks on the bench, tying his cleats, breathing, sitting, staring. I get it ... it's about him. But I loved every minute of exposure for our MLS.
Off-topic, but I'm just wondering, Andrea and Luis, which one of you support the Galaxy, and who supports the Goats? Or both, or what?
For our various MLSnet assignments, I cover the Galaxy a little bit more than Luis does, usually.
I think we maintain a general objectivity, or develop a partiality to whichever team is easier to work with as far as things like access, parking passes, etc.
Truth is, we'd both love for the LA teams to be top of the table every year, vying for supremacy and meeting in the playoffs. It would make for better stories, more excitement, and more assignments for us.
Jonathan, I'm actually a big Colorado Rapids fan.
Just kidding ;)
I was actually a big Galaxy fan for the longest time. The MLS Cup 96 loss blew; that one really hurt. But around '04 when I started covering the team more in-depth than I ever had, I sort of stopped being a fan just because I tried to be as objective as possible.
Thanks, guys!
