Bravo for Bravo

Landon Donovan exchanged jerseys with Omar Bravo after the Chivas/Galaxy match.

"He’s a good guy," said Landon "I respect those who play the game well."

Actually, he was talking to Spanish reporters at the time, but I translated what he said.

Shouldn't a better title for this post be "Bravo for Landon"? He finally had a nice thing to say about someone from Mexico.

This said exchange in the Gold Cup jersey exchange means 2 times in one year Mexicans and US players have exchanged jerseys. As well as some of the other Superliga games. Does this indicate a turning point in the Mexican players respect for their US counterparts? What impact if any at all has Mexicans playing in Europe had on this change of heart? Are we only a year or 2 away from seeing a US club beat a Mexican club in Mexico? Will playing Mexican teams now, prepare DCU for their rematch against Chivas in the South American Cup, is so how much?

The "bravo" was what Landon was saying about Bravo - just my way of referencing that Landon was praising him.

The Mexican players do seem to have more respect for the U.S., so maybe.

Mexicans in Europe probably feel more of a kinship with their CONCACAF comrades.

Possibly, since the SuperLiga is likely to be home and away, but I think the Kansas City Wizards beat a team in Mexico before.

Probably - DC should be slightly more prepared. More importantly, they should be more fit than they were during the CCC.

Actually, there were a bunch of jerseys traded after the second leg (which went to extra time) of Pachuca/Houston in the CCC, so it's happening more often than is widely known.
