Words of wisdom from Pachuca coach Enrique Meza:

L.B. "Could you explain what happened on the Galaxy's goals?"

Meza: "The ball went in."

LOL...good one.

Hey LB, explain to me why the MLS keeps going after 30 year old players. If we are going to go after 30 something at least get one that is making a difference still like Riquelme, but Wanchope...oh please, come on!!!!!

Some International Additions this year under 30:

FC Dallas new additions:
Juan Toja - 22 Colombian
Ricardinho - 18 Brazilian

DC United new additions:
Fred - 28 Brazilian
Luciano Emilio - 29 Brazilian

Chicago Fire new additions:
Willian Oliveira - 23 Brazilian
Bruno Menezes - 23 Brazilian

What sports league in the World does not have a balance of young players and veterans? There is a salary cap and MLS clubs need to shop for value and return on their investment. There is youth and there are veterans coming into the league every year. The teams that can balance their player assets the best will be successful.

In the over 30 category I don't think anyone is complaining about the wisdom of adding Guillermo Barros Schelotto,Juan Pablo Angel, David Beckham or Cuauhtemoc Blanco to the MLS. They are still making a difference.

In my opinion Reyna wasn't worth the cash and DP slot but you can't win them all.

After the first day of the Superliga the results are what I expected. Although I thought Dallas would win and this game would be the tie.

Having both leagues play different schedules it's so hard to get either league at full strength. During CCC MLS teams are in preseason form. Now during Superliga Mexican teams are, although it is a shorter break for them. In any case results are not surprising to me.

A friend of mine that has interviewed Meza before says he can be a real jerk off, when the cameras aint around eh.. This of course after the fact that he is regarded as the FMF's perfect Gent!

So simple, that Meza, yet so profound.

Finish, someone on Pachuca learn to finish! (Before the Apertura or I may have to jump on the América bandwagon. I know, I know, they've lost all their games so far ... but Insúa, Castromán, Cabañas? Surely they'll be pretty good.)

I asked Gordon Strachan at the All-Star Game to talk a little bit about what it was like to face Juan Pablo Angel - if he'd expected the striker to be such a threat up top.

Strachan looked over at me, paused, then responded, "Yes."

That was it.
