Bryant Gumbel on Beckham in the US

As an English sports fan, I think that Beckham's better days are now behind him. Although soccer is not my main sport that I follow (rugby league is - a thirteen aside game that is predominantly in the north of England), Beckham was quite superb at Manchester United. His crossing and free kicks being a highlight to watch. When he moved to Real Madrid, I thought his game wasn't as good. Now I believe LA Galaxy have got him at the end of his career. Yes he's still good but I wonder whether he is just an expensive (very expensive) PR campaign for them. I don't feel soccer will take off any further in the US as established favourite sports like American football, baseball and basketball are too well established.
