The boys room

David Beckham left the field midway through the second half on Saturday. He was asked why.

Apart from using the bathroom, I got strapped up before the game and then I took it off at halftime because it was a little bit uncomfortable. When I was warming up, I felt I needed a little bit of strapping on my ankle to protect it and I didn't want to do it front of the whole world. While I was in there, I went to the bathroom.

Do you think El America will push for a club in MLS so as not to be outdone by their fiercest rival, Las Chivas?

Who is Mike Caso? He's listed on the subs bench. http://la.galaxy.mlsnet.com/scoreboard/game.jsp?match=07212007_ZZZLA

How close is Alrbight to coming back? Albright isn't listed as as sub but from pics from the game he was next to Beckham on the bench and dressed.

Mike Caso was signed to a developmental contract during the week. He played at the University of San Diego and was apparently successful there. What a week for him, to go from out of a job to sitting on the same bench as Beckham.

He'd actually appeared in several reserve games for the Galaxy.

As far as Albright and Chris Klein (who was apparently suspended because of his red), I think the team just wanted all the players on the bench in uniform for the big occasion. That was pretty cool of them to have sat there even though they weren't able to play.

Chueco, thanks for the link. I'll post something about it as a regular item. Pretty crazy, Boca EEUU!!!

I'm all for having powerful teams invest in MLS. Chivas is having their struggles financially and in the stands but they're still behind the league, and if nothing else their failures will not be duplicated by other possible clubs trying to form another franchise.

I doubt America gets involved with the league, though. It seemed like the best chance to have done that was a year or two ago, and they could have used Cuauhtemoc Blanco as the face of the franchise, but that's not possible any more.

Klein couldn't play b/c of a red card suspension? What does a league suspension have to do with a non-league friendly? Angel is serving a suspension and yet was allowed to play in the All-star game.

Boca jrs. is a cash strapped team. LOL.

Btw, the pub I was at went wild once Chelsea finally scored.

Albright said that his injury is ahead of schedule, but that it's still going to take a while. He really wants to play, though.
