Ok, it's really the baby MLS tournament - the U17 one. Kansas City defeated the Crew, and DC took down the Galaxy in the semifinals.
I stopped by after Celtic's practice. In the LA/DC game, DC scored in the first half, but the Galaxy put a lot of pressure on and scored early in the second half. They had most of the run of play in that half, but a good counter effort saw a pretty amazing DC goal - as the forward knocked it in with almost no angle. Good stuff from DC. So the Galaxy pushed up desperately to tie again, and DC cleared out balls like crazy. Finally, a DC player had a good run at the exhausted Galaxy backline for the goal to put the game away.
In the KC/Columbus match, KC had a two goal lead at half time, but the Crew pulled one back. Then they really pressured KC's goal. However, the Wizards managed a breakaway, and the defender chased the guy down and cleaned him out. Red card, and Columbus looked really discouraged. I got a snap of them setting up for the free kick, but the KC guy took forever to hit it. When he did, it was a beaut - bent over the wall and into the goal.
So I think both games ended 3-1. I left. I was on assignment for another article, and I still had to get back to that, but wanted to provide a little update.
