South America's talent drain

The best and the brightest are leaving young.

I don't see this problem ever going away unless some of these leagues in South America start increasing their pay. Economically it just doesn't make a lot of sense for a lot of these players to stay in their home leagues if they can make bigger paychecks elsewhere.

South American clubs may lose players to bigger paychecks in Europe but that doesn't stop the flow of talent, in fact it gives the younger players more opportunities. The flow of players also doesn't stop the Libertadores champion from defeating the Champions League winners, 3 of the 4 World Club Cups which have been played have been won by South American clubs.

I watch both the Libertadores and the Champions League and I find the Libertadores a more interesting and passionate tournament. It also is one where a relatively modest club like Liga de Quito can qualify for the final. That is no longer possible in Europe where the big money clubs rule.
