Ty, Jozy, JPA and Becks

From the MLS press release:

Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder David Beckham and defender Ty Harden along with New York Red Bulls forwards Juan Pablo Angel and Jozy Altidore will conduct a youth soccer clinic on Friday, Aug. 17 at 3:00 pm ET at Jacob Schiff Field in New York City.

The invite-only clinic will feature 30 youth players from FC Harlem and will celebrate Major League Soccer’s support of creating opportunities for inner city youth. This event will launch a partnership between FC Harlem, MLS W.O.R.K.S., the U.S. Soccer Foundation and the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation which will culminate in the construction of a world-class mini soccer field and new programming to benefit the children and families of Harlem, NY.

Complete publicity stunt (no skills actually developed, but lots of pictures will be [developed that is]), but I love it!

Jozy, Becks, Angel, and Harden...well done.

Since Harden is one of the $13000 per year guys, I suspect he gets a decent appearance fee out of this?

Likely. The Galaxy player appearances are usually compensated, to the tune of a hundred dollars for little local ones, and more depending on the event. It adds up for the young players.

Ty Harden, our Galaxy Ironman and Rookie of the Year candidate, good for him, he definitely deserves the recognition (let alone pay raise and real contract)
