When I got to Chivas USA training on Tuesday, I did a quick head count. I got used to seeing players coming and going literally from one training session to the next in the first year-plus as the club changed personnel often. It stuck so I always check to see who's there and who's not.
So I couldn't find Ramon Nunez yesterday. I feared the worst, especially when I saw someone who looked a lot like Matt Taylor. Sure enough, Nunez was gone but Taylor was there.
My first reaction was "Oh no."
I went through players more slowly. I mean, Ramon is kinda short. But I still couldn't find him.
Turns out that Nunez is with the Honduran national team. As for Matt Taylor, he's just training with the team for old time's sake apparently.
