Mex-Par update

The game is at the 75th minute still 0-0. Neither side is really dominating but both have had chances. Omar Bravo hit the post earlier this half on a wicked side volley. Paraguay has Julio Dos Santos and Roque Santa Cruz out there, but Roque just took a knock and he might come off.

Nery Castillo received a hero's welcome when he came on in the second half.

UPDATE:

So yeah, um, Paraguay scored a beautiful goal in the 89th minute. Nelson Cuevas mad a run inside the penalty area, cut back and fed Oscar Cardozo, who slipped a shot from just inside the penalty area past Oswaldo Sanchez.

It's 1-0 Paraguay, in stoppage time, the fans are booing and the announcers are saying "The players don't deserve that. It's just a preparation game. You can't always win by four goals."

Well, yeah, but this is in Estadio Azteca where Mexico has one loss in the last 20-something years.

UPDATING THE UPDATE:

Ball game. Paraguay 1, Mexico 0.

The theme of my SI column for Friday: Hugo Sanchez, you have a lot to prove. Ricardo Lavolpe NEVER lost in Azteca. I don't think he failed to win in Azteca, but I need to check that stat.
