The Paraguayan who scored the game-winner was Oscar Cardozo, who plays for Newell's Old Boys in Argentina. Cardozo has reportedly been linked to some European clubs because of his recent play in the Argentine league.But the player who set up the goal is Nelson "Pipino" Cuevas, a familiar face in Mexico. He played his home games in Estadio Azteca as a member of Club America but did not live up to expectations.
Cuevas scored eight goals in each of the Apertura 2005 and Clausura 2006 seasons with Pachuca. He joined America for the Apertura 2006 season and has yet to score a goal for America.
I wonder if he'll stick around in Mexico. The last player who played a big role in a Mexico loss in Azteca bolted. Then-Necaxa forward Hernan Medford scored the game-winner for Costa Rica in June 2001 and did not return to play in Mexico the next season.

guardado(sic) is very fun to watch...kinda like Ramon a few years ago...think he was #18 in Glendale in Feb, why is he now #11.

Ramon Morales is a player I feel should not be a starter for Mexico any more. Traditionally his biggest asset has been speed but he's getting older and defending has never been his forte. He's the player that Claudio Reyna beat down the right flank that helped set up the US's first goal against Mexico in the 2002 World Cup. He's playing left back because he gives Mexico an option down the left flank but he's more of an attacking player, not a defender.
Guardado is an up-and-coming talent. He did wear 18 against the US but a lot of players switched jersey numbers today. Blanco wore 21. Nery Castillo wore 10 on Saturday and wore 20 today.
Sanchez was not punished for his swipe on Eddie Johnson but you might get a kick out of this picture:
