I heard on Monday talk of a Chivas USA press conference. I figured it would be to talk about the Super Clasico. Turns out, they're finally announcing their sponsorship deal.
We all expect it to be Comex, of course. If you've seen Tigres' jerseys, you might think it's the same deal but Tigres are sponsored by Cemex. In Mexico, everything seemingly ends in -mex; between Comex (paint), Cemex (cement), Pemex (gas), Jumex (juice), Banamex (bank), Telmex (telephone), Cablemex (cable), etc, etc, etc. Basically a company slaps Mexico on its name so the full name is Jugos Mexicanos but it is shortened to Jumex.
Anyway, family obligations might keep me from attending the presser, though I will be out at training tomorrow. But we'll bring you as much detail as we can from HDC.

So what is Comex exactly? A paint company based in Mexico? Do they sell in the US also or plan to soon?
They're a Mexican-based paint company that's been around for something like 50 years. Not sure how international they are. I think people can pay for Comex products here to have it available in Mexico so people building homes or whatever can do it that way instead of buying it all down there.
I was hoping for Corona to sponsor Chivas USA but oh well.
Thanks Luis. I just submitted a longer question about Comex to you through the SI mailbag. I don't know if those get filtered or if you get them directly, but keep an eye out.
Cheers
Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for it.
I just hope you didn't call me any names. For some reason, I get a lot of mailbag e-mails calling me names.
:)
