She writes words that go together well
Mechelle Voepel contributes to espn.com occasionally, as do I, but she covers women's basketball for the site.
However, she couldn't help but comment on the impression the women's soccer team is giving the world.
Heck, maybe the hoops team can even find a spot for Hope Solo in case the U.S. soccer sorority, er, team remains too "distracted" by her presence.

Coach Ryan quote:
"We're initiating a process of reconciliation,'' Ryan said Friday. "You can't mandate reconciliation. When you look at reconciliation, and look at the relationships you've had, it's a process."
This man makes my stomach turn!
Lilly Quote:
"I think Terrell Owens is wrong too,'' U.S. captain Kristine Lilly said. "You want things to happen within the family, and in everyone's real families, everything is kept in, and that's what we tried to do. Obviously, we've learned from this and we have to move on and come together again, rebuild the team and get ready for the Olympics.
"She's probably realized that what went on went deeper than she imagined. We're dealing with it as a group. That's where it should have been from the start."
OMG I want to be adopted by the Lilly "real" family because she knows how to treat family members!
Great job soon to be ex Coach Ryan!!
Ha ha ha... sorority.
ussoccer.com under latest news of US Women's section continues to say:
"as 18 players from the 2007 U.S. Women’s World Cup Team will travel through three times zones to finish the schedule this year."
This suggests to me that Hope's banishment continues even though they have packaged it that Hope is excused from practice and that it was her who asked to be excused?
A.C., use your power and go find out. :)
They ignore my messages! :(
After reading Lilly's latest quote about keeping things within the family("everything is kept in and that's what we tried to do"), I had to think back to a response to an entry made here a while back by an anon person.
The anon person was talking about different orbits and such.
I hope that this whole situation didn't get really ugly back in China and invovle those orbits. High emotions and heat of the moment stuff can get pretty ugly.
... and by the way, AC, are you spending some quality time with mid era Beatles ('65 - '67) lately?
What's next, "She Said She Said" or "Tomorrow Never Knows"?
Can anybody tell us what the crowd reaction is like tonight?
It's 1-0 Mexico at the moment.
Statement from Hope Solo CHICAGO (October 13, 2007) - The following is a statement from U.S. Women's National Team goalkeeper Hope Solo in advance of the USA's three-game tour following the team's third-place finish at the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Statement from Hope Solo:
"I would like to apologize to my teammates, coaches and everyone else adversely affected by my comments at the Women's World Cup. This public apology comes later than it should have, but I hope that does not diminish the fact that I am truly sorry. I made a mistake and I take full responsibility for my actions. I let my teammates down and have lost their trust.
"I would like to especially apologize to Greg Ryan and Briana Scurry. There is no excuse for insulting a coach or a teammate. My focus now is solely on reconciliation with the team. I am here to support the team for these games, but after apologizing in person to all my teammates and the coaches, I have made the choice not to suit up for these games since I believe this is the first step in the healing process.
"As I work to regain the team's trust, I will not be making any more public comments at this time. The healing process has started, but I understand that I have a lot of work to do with my teammates and that is my focus moving forward."
WOW ... Hope has gone way beyond what she needed to do but this girl has a heart of GOLD!
