Despite FIFA's international calendar offering daes between Nov. 15-21, Mexico won't take advantage of the time to play a game or two.
The Mexican league playoffs will be in full swing and the federation has apparently decided against stripped playoff clubs of some strong players to benefit the national team.
Mexico plays Nigeria on Sunday and Guatemala on Oct. 17 in games that will close out their 2007 calendar.
Like MLS, the Mexican league regularly plays games on international fixture dates, unless they coincide with qualifiers or tournament games. Mexico, for instance, has a full slate of games scheduled for this weekend and played games the second weekend of September, when Mexico played Panama in Puebla.
But that's where the similarities end. Mexico's calendar aligns with the majority of the world's.
As far as their next game beyond October, Mexico will play a game on Feb. 6, 2008, Decio de Mario said last week, though he did not elaborate beyond that.

Glad that the Mexican federation decided to skip the next international window. At this point, the players have played enough for El Tri this year, they need the time off (European players) or time with their clubs (Mexican based). Good decision. SO we can evaluate Hugo's first year by the end of next week.
Sounds like a good column to get ready LB.
