I tried to figure out the last time Landon Donovan didn't convert a penalty kick. As far as I can tell, it was in the last Gold Cup.
In 2005, versus Jamaica, on July 16, John O'Brien earned a penalty kick in stoppage time of a 3-1 U.S. victory.
Goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts didn't exactly deny Landon, but he was in goal when Landon's shot whistled just over the crossbar.
Perhaps that's why Landon's been keeping his shots so low lately.
