Cubans arrive

Lester More and Osvlado Alonso joined Chivas USA on Tuesday for a trial. The two players were part of the Cuban national team and defected during the Gold Cup. More left the team in New Jersey and Alonso split in Houston. The two met up in Miami and were waiting for some sort of paperwork that would allow them to fly out. But they and the club got anxious and decided to get them out here by bus. So the two boarded a Greyhound in Miami on Friday and arrived in L.A. on Monday evening.

The two hadn't ever been on a bus for so long before, they said. On their island nation, if a bus drove for three days it would circle the country multiple times. But not in their new country.

Anyway, here's a story I wrote on the Cubans for MLSnet.com.

By the way, Alonso is on the left of the picture with both of them.

Great. On the week Beckham arrives, two Cuban defectors are left with the dauning task of countering the glitz and glamour of #23.

Nice job Chivas!! Way to russle up those free agents you promised, Cue/Vergara.

I hope these guys pan out. Maybe they can push Merln and Cunliffe for time on the bench.

Don't worry anon. I'm sure chivas will win more games than the galaxy, with or without the Cubans.
