The pluck of the Irish

Michael Parkhurst doesn't impress one as a centerback until he starts playing. He just isn't that big or imposing. But as soon as the game starts, you see how he hardly ever gets beaten, how he anticipates so well, and how he never loses his cool.

I talked to him briefly after his debut with the national team.
