Trinidad & Tobago coach Wim Rijsbergen's post-match quotes following the United States 2-0 win over T&T on Saturday:
Wim was asked about the situation with the World Cup players and the squabble with the federation over monies owed them from last year's tournament:
"It’s very difficult but it’s tough for me to talk about it because the federation is upset if we mention it. For a coach, of course you want to play with the best team. On the other side, it’s a good experience for the boys we have here and hopefully they realize that they have to do a lot of work to try to reach the next level... We use this as a good experience for the boys to see what it is and hopefully they understand that as an individual and as a team, there is more than this."
Wim was also asked about his thoughts on the U.S. team.
"One thing from all the U.S. players that their fitness is good. The coach is using new players and looking for a new team. They are organized. They know what they want. Physically they are fit and the skills, I think every team can improve on that side. He has enough players to choose from. I think the U.S. has 280 million people and in Trinidad & Tobago we have 1.8 million so there is a little difference but we keep trying."
