Way above the Mendoza line

Panchito Mendoza is the true success story for Chivas USA. He went in without much fanfare as Isaac Romo and Hector Cuadros were supposed to have been the players Chivas did not want to part with. However, as those two have slipped into oblivion, Mendoza is one of the better players in MLS.

It was nice having such a good and open conversation with him. I asked him about possibly playing for the U.S. national team and he said he wouldn't mind that. He had more thoughts on the matter but also told me that he didn't want to get ahead of himself.

Is Mendoza a US citizen? Either Luis or Andrea, a question I'd like answered is if San Luis' 21 year old centerback from Orange County, Michael Orozco and Santos' 21 year old left back from New Mexico Edgar Castillo are interested in playing for the US U-23 team and is the US coaching staff making inquiries about their availability for Olympic qualifying?
