America just took a 2-1 lead over Tecos. Alvin Mendoza took the ball straight down the field and passed it to Cuauhtemoc Blanco. With two defenders draped on him, Blanco hit a nice little backheel to Mendoza, who shook off one defender and slammed a shot into the back of the net.
Mendoza scored a fine goal but without Blanco's deft touch and his ability to draw defenders, it wouldn't have happened.
I hope Chris Rolfe and Chad Barrett can figure out how to play with Blanco soon and that Blanco acclimates to his team soon as well. If and when that happens, the Fire will be one of the more attractive teams to watch.

didnt he get carted off earlier in the game?
I missed the beginning of the game so he might have. He got a yellow card in the 82nd minute and then drew a foul right outside the penalty area in stoppage time. He was pretty much a threat right until the final whistle.
