Signs of respect
AEG's Tim Leiweke was out among those honoring Cobi Jones today. Bad weather delayed Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber who was just landing at LAX as the ceremony started. Mark Abbot filled in for him. All, including Alexi Lalas and Frank Yallop said very nice things about Cobi.
In a subtle little sign of homage, the Galaxy organization had some refreshments spread on the club terrace that were very nice. Those little centerpieces with fresh flowers were there just for the ceremony. Even the food was better than what they'd recently had out for the Chelsea World Series of Football announcment. They'd had little cheddar cheese cubes back then, while for Cobi, they apparently ordered the fancier kind of cheese platter, with stuff I didn't even recognize. That's my plate on the table.
