Laurent Merlin did not make the team, though the Galaxy were interested.If you look at Chivas USA's home page, there is currently a photo of Merlin in a Chivas uniform in a scrimmage versus Santa Barbara, because he is trialing with that squad now.
In 2005, Chivas USA passed on the chance to sign Herculez Gomez, who then ended up scoring 11 goals for the Galaxy and helping them win a championship. Perhaps Chivas USA wants to return the favor now.
