It's hard to believe but River Plate has gone three years without a championship. And here I thought only Real Madrid was the only club not living up to its history.
River Plate is a downright soccer factory. It is one of the best exporters in talent in the entire world. Yet the club's own success is lacking, even with the number of players who have passed through the club.
SI colleague Greg Sica thinks that River Plate will win the upcoming Clausura season. I can't say I disagree with him. Boca Juniors got better by ditching coach Ricardo Lavolpe, which was a good omen for the club. But River just has too much firepower for the rest of theleague.
