Tall glass of water

This was the little commemorative gift for those who attended the Galaxy luncheon. I missed out on getting one, because I was interviewing players, but Tim Hanley (goalkeeper coach) took pity on me and gave me an extra one he'd nabbed.

The lunch was nice - and the highlight was starting goalkeeper Joe Cannon going around the tables to his teammates as part of an introduction/comedy bit that was a cute way to learn something about the players.

The biggest laugh was earned when Joe noted Santino Quaranta was sharing a table with a crowd of young'uns.

"Tino, you're at the kids' table," said Joe with genuine astonishment. "What is up with that?"

My personal favorite bit was when Joe egged Quavas Kirk about David Beckham taking away uniform number #23, saying that Kirk needed to be handsomely compensated for his sacrifice. Then Joe went next to Steve Cronin, and, with Steve's help, admitted he'd claimed his own preferred number, 1, from the Galaxy backup.

Steve now sports #0, which I'm not sure is such a good idea from a psychologically self-affirming standpoint.
