No flyboys on LA

The league decision to deny the New York Red Bulls charter flights in the interest of holding back a "competitive advantage" looks to have affected the Los Angeles Galaxy as well.

According to a source, the team has scrapped plans to fly this season via charter.

Yes, folks, apparently David Beckham will travel commercial.

He'll probably get a first-class seat, but still.

For all those who thought Beckham was coming to the U.S. to essentially retire and lollygag under the sun in LA, take this as the first definite sign that not only will Beckham be working harder (publicity duties, freekicks, midfield general) than before, he's also having to do that while slumming during the travel.

Who knows though? Perhaps Becks will take a page out of John Travolta's book and learn to pilot his own plane.

Terrible policy. The scene it will cause having Becks going through ticketing and security will be a nightmare. This alone could scare off potential DPs.

Give it a few road trips into the Beckham saga and MLS will change their tune.

Talk about a bush league policy...Mark's right, at least I hope he is. Surely they'll figure this one out.

It would only be a competitive advantage if the league didn't own all of the players anyway. It's not like a guy playing in K.C. can suddenly say, "I want to play in New York where they fly charter" and have it happen easily.
