El Queso Grande

Okay, that's not an actual saying - or at least one that I've heard of. But Hugo Sanchez is indeed the Big Cheese. He's adored by fans and respected by the Mexican media and is seemingly winning over the federation.

He received the loudest cheers of anyone at Qualcomm (well, it was between him and Cuauhtemoc Blanco). Sanchez is a very cerebral person and was speaking with calmed tones yesterday. I don't know if the victory calmed him or if that's just his typical demeanor but he was direct with his answers and took his time with the media.

The press conference was held in a room outside the mixed zone (where the players walk from the locker rooms to the bus). Throngs of media were inside the presser and hanging on every word. At least one person was live on some sort of broadcast. He was speaking into his cell phone while people asked questions and then put the phone up to the speaker when Hugo responded.

Myself, I couldn't get a seat. I just kind of floated around behind the scene. It was hard to hear Hugo Sanchez in person but the audio was coming through a TV in the back of the room.
