The teaser for my latest column on Soccer 365 says the U.S. should host the 2018 World Cup, but that's not exactly what I intended the point of my article to be. I mean, it works, but it's something of an oversimplification.
My point was that the U.S. will be far more deserving of hosting the World Cup in 2018, or even as an emergency option for 2014, because besides all the advantages of facilities, safety and transportation, the country has developed real passion for the game at last.
I think that makes the U.S. a legitimate contender for the host post, even against England, but it wasn't supposed to be a blanket recommendation for it. England would be great, too.
