I'm starting to think Bob Bradley might feel a little like the girl who wins the prom queen title after the highest vote-getter is disqualified for smoking pot, another withdraws on feminist grounds, and the schoolboard passes a resolution that the role cannot be held by a boy.
At the very least, he's got to feel a little like Rodney Dangerfield. Not only was he not the first choice to coach the U.S. national team, but his appointment is on an interim basis. Also, a number of players have passed on invitations to his January training camp or will be coming in late.
Finally, his own son, Michael, can't get released from his Dutch team, Heerenveen, to play for the U20 national team. Perhaps that situation wouldn't be any different if Bradley was the permanent coach. One wonders, though.
