Unofficial poll

On Mural.com, there is a poll question asking readers if they feel Jesus Padilla should stay with Chivas.

Right now, it's 14 in favor of staying and 13 who want to boot him out. There was also someone who posted under the name of Jesus Padilla who said "Nooooooo, don't kick me out" but I didn't count that one.

Anyway, some of the responses there were harsh. Those who didn't want him around anymore were split between the viscious responses "Kick him out! He can't tarnish the tradition!" and the sympathetic ones "As much as I hate to say it, he shouldn't stay here anymore." Those who did support him said things like "Well, if foreigners can play for the national team why not Chivas?" or "I can't believe this is even an issue - that's why this country is the way it is (por eso estamos como estamos)."

Just wanted to share that tidbit of info to give you guys a bit of an insight into what the reaction is like down in Guadalajara and Mexico.

It will be interesting to see what happens. This could be anecdotal for Guadalajara, much like the MascareƱo base.

Reading around some forums I'm beginning to see a split in opinion. Forums where the readers are predominantely based in Mexico see a lot of calls to kick him out. Forums based in America, like BigSoccer, are much more "understanding" -- you have to wonder if that's because the users are 'chicanos' who identify with Padilla.

Chivas USA could be a casualty here. If this case becomes a high-profile case, and Padilla is "released" at the end of the season, it could be a slap in the face to many of Chivas' chicano followers. Can't help but wonder how the few that have accepted Chivas USA will take to that.

Chicanos have been dissed and will continue to be dissed by elitist Mexican soccer snobs. That's reality. Padilla is the convenient exception, as far as players.

Besides, what's the the solution?

Padilla will play for Fulham FC before Chivas USA.
